Five Great Things about Dracula
1. PERFORMANCE INSIGHTS
Be sure to check out our new on-site program. It's filled with information about Alberta Ballet, insights and exclusive information about Dracula and an interview with world renowned choreographer Sir Ben Stevenson who spent the last two weeks in Alberta helping our dancers fine-tune their roles.
Sir Ben Stevenson's Dracula is a tried-and-true story ballet, so lavish when it debuted in 1997 at Houston Ballet the production budget was pegged at more than a million dollars. At the time of its première, the New York Times review swooned, saying this Dracula "lookslike a million."
The Edmonton Journal's preview of Dracula has interviews with Artistic Director Jean Grand-Maitre and with Alberta Ballet Dancer Hayna Gutierrez who dances the female lead of Flora.
6:45 pm on the First Balcony
Hosted by: Alberta Ballet Artistic Director Jean Grand-Maitre.
Special Guests: Associate Artistic Director Chris Anderson and Ballet Mistress Christiana Bennett
Chris and Christiana will join Jean for a 20-minute conversation where they recall working with Sir Ben Stevenson and dancing the lead roles in Dracula for Ballet West in Salt Lake City.
Eyewear, fangs, collars and specialty handmade merchandise are on sale in our main our lobby boutique. Once you're in character, head over to the photo booth to get a group or individual picture!
